Chelmsford Star Co-operative launch 2017 charity partnership with Little Havens Hospice

On Friday 2nd June, Chelmsford Star Co-operative launched their Charity of the Year partnership with Little Havens Hospice.

Members of the Co-op joined Community Fundraiser Claire Wilson, Little Havens’ mascot Betsy the Butterfly and Chelmsford Star’s mascot Cooper the Bear at the hospice for a tour, meet some of the children who use the hospice and to find out more about the charity.

Kevin Bennett Head of Membership & Marketing at Chelmsford Star, said “The Co-operative have historically been a community focused organisation and as such we have always supported causes that care, support or benefit our local community

“Every year we allow our staff members to decide which local charity or cause they would like to fundraise for and this year Little Havens Hospice was the clear choice.  The hospice is vitally important to the local community and quite a few of our staff members have used or knows someone who has used the services and care provided to the children and the families who use Little Havens Hospice We are all really looking forward to get fundraising for such a brilliant cause!”

Claire Wilson, Community Fundraiser at Little Havens Hospice, commented “We are really grateful to Kevin and the staff in all of the Chelmsford Star Co-op’s for choosing Little Havens Hospice as their Charity of the Year.

“We’re a registered charity - not part of the NHS and receive limited government funding; the hospice can only exist because of the support from the community and their kindness. We must raise over £46,000 a week to be there for everyone who needs us for as long as they need us. We can’t wait to hear about all the fantastic fundraising events that Chelmsford Star hold to help us continue ‘Making every day count’ for families across Essex.”
