Our Board of Directors have voted, and Chelmsford Star Co-op now has a new President heading the Society. Congratulations, Sue Sullivan.
Susan, from Chelmsford, has been a regular customer and member for over 35 years. Fully committed to the community, she has been both City and Parish Councillor in her home town, with ongoing aims to improve facilities across the area. Susan also serves as trustee for three local charities. She worked her way up the governance ladder, starting on our Members Council, and was first elected as a Director in 2013, and was President for our 150th anniversary in 2017.
The Board also elected a new Vice-President, with that honour going to Stephen Birmingham. Stephen, who has always lived in Essex, was originally voted onto the Board of Directors in 2018 and has been a regular shopper, and member, since the 1990s. Stephen has over 35 years of experience in the finance industry, and has previously held senior management level roles across a broad spectrum of business-models. He also serves as a member-nominated pensions trustee.
Both have a passion for ethically-minded businesses, and a strong community spirit. All elected members serve as representatives for our wider membership, and this new duo at the top look forward to guiding Chelmsford Star, and it’s Executive team, through these tough times and into a successful future.
