Co-operators from across the region met in our Chelmsford Dept Store yesterday (27th June) for a delicious Co-op Cream Tea.
The event, arranged as part of our Co-op Fortnight celebrations, showcased a range of different businesses operating successfully under the co-operative model, all over a delicious cream tea thanks to the award-winning baking skills of their Brambles restaurant.
Speaking within the afternoon’s programme were, amongst others, St Clere’s School (co-op academy), Anglia Ruskin University (social enterprise), Holdfast (credit union), and Anna Birley (co-op party), who’d rushed straight over from Westminster. Backing music was provided by the wonderful Southend Jazz Co-operative. The event, sponsored by the Chelmsford Star Co-op Party, and organised by their Chair, Val Sullivan, also raised £250 for Essex & Herts Air Ambulance.
As part of the Co-op Fortnight celebrations, Chelmsford Star is also offering double points to all members for the duration, and collecting groceries and canned goods for 40 local charities via donation stations in all their food stores.
