The annual Remembrance Evening hosted by our Funeral team took place at Chelmsford Cathedral on Thursday 15th December; a beautiful venue for the funeral team to mark their 80th year of serving the local community.
The evening was very well attended, with approximately 300 people attending to pay their respects and to remember loved ones.
An introduction took place by Society President, Pauline Dodd, followed by Ave Maria, sung by soloist, Elliot and Amazing Grace, sung by a quartet. The congregation then joined in singing Christmas Carols.
Cooper Bear made his Chelmsford Central parkrun debut on 10th December and finished the 5k in an incredible 31:10! He was practising for the upcoming Brentwood Half Marathon in March 2017.

Independent Co-operative Society, Chelmsford Star, re-opened its convenience store at Melbourne Parade, Chelmsford after having been closed for the 12 days for a major refit work.
Chief Executive Officer, Barry Wood commented;
Our food store in Melbourne Parade, Chelmsford will be closing on Sunday 20th November at 7pm for a major refit.
We will be changing the shop layout and making everything more energy efficient, introducing a range of flowers and a coffee machine, and tweaking what we sell to find room for chilled alcohol and an extended selection of 'free from' options.
Local and independent co-op society, Chelmsford Star, has just re-opened its convenience store on Main Road, Danbury following a brief closure for a major refit.
The store shut its doors on Saturday 8th October for twelve days, but ran an ‘essentials’ store throughout its closure selling basics like milk, bread and newspapers. It also managed to continue to offer a Post Office service throughout the refurbishment too.

The Society announced its half yearly results to members on Monday night at its Interim Meeting in its Quadrant Department store in Chelmsford.
Chief Executive Officer, Barry Wood reported that the year had come with some unique challenges, including continued price deflation that had taken its toll on their food business, and specific terrorism and virus threats that had eroded the sales within their travel division.
