Chelmsford Star Co-op launch new Charity of the Year

The Society announced its next Charity of the Year, Kids Inspire. This Essex charity was chosen in a ballot by the Society’s employees who will be supporting Kids Inspire through 50 of their retail stores and outlets across the region.

Kids Inspire supports children, young people and families to build relationships through therapy, opportunities, love and care.

A Challenging Year for Chelmsford Star, but Retained Profits Continue to Rise

Chelmsford Star Co-operative reported at its AGM a slight decrease in profitability due to continued pressure from price deflation, increased costs, margin erosion and additional competition.

Chelmsford Star an independent co-operative with 50 trading outlets across Essex announced its 2015/16 trading results to its members at its AGM in the quadrant department store, Chelmsford on Monday 9th May.

The Co-operative Travel Finalist in Major Travel Awards

The Co-operative Travel, part of Chelmsford Star Co-operative Society, is a finalist in the Regional Agency of the Year in the London and South East England category of the prestigious Travel Weekly Agent Achievement Awards 2016.

Comprising of just two branches and located in the Society’s quadrant department stores in Chelmsford and Braintree, the Co-operative Travel will be up against 4 other agencies located in Kent, London and Hertfordshire.

Braintree Quadrant Department Store is to open on Sundays

The quadrant department store in George Yard is due to extend its trading hours to include Sundays from 10.30am to 4.30pm from Sunday 3rd April 2016.

The store is one of two that is part of the Chelmsford Star Co-operative Society with the other being in Chelmsford which already trades on Sunday.

The Braintree quadrant is located in the George Yard shopping centre and is serviced by the council owned multi storey car park which costs just 10p to park in on Sunday.

Kenyan Fairtrade Tea Farmer to Visit Chelmsford

Local Co-operative, Chelmsford Star will be running its annual evening event to promote ‘Fairtrade Fortnight’ on Thursday 3rd March from 6.45pm, in its quadrant department store, Chelmsford.

The ticketed event, attended by the Mayor of Chelmsford aims to give attendees a greater understanding of Fairtrade which is promoted nationally from 29th February to 13th March 2016.

Chelmsford Star Searches for its 10th Charity of the Year!

Local Co-operative Society, Chelmsford Star has embarked on its annual search for its ‘Charity of the Year’ initiative to commence in May 2016.

The scheme is now in its 9th year and has raised to date nearly £275 000 for Essex charities.

Pauline Dodd, Society President said;

‘We are currently looking for local registered charities to put themselves forward as potential candidates backed up with a two page A4 document in support of who they are and what the funds are required for.
