Co-op Beach Clean at East Beach: A Beautiful Day of Community and Conservation

Tuesday Sep 17, 2024

At our Co-op, supporting the local community and protecting the environment are at the core of what we do. On Friday, 13th September, we had the privilege of hosting a beach clean at East Beach in Shoeburyness, and it couldn’t have been a more perfect day. With blue skies and sunshine overhead, over 40 enthusiastic volunteers gathered to make a difference.

Lead by Karen and Emily from our Membership and Marketing Team, our volunteers included members of our Board of Directors, a dedicated team from Oakwood Care Home, and special support from Toby Larkin at Juniper Networks, who generously provided some equipment that helped us in our efforts.

Together, we collected an impressive 13kg of litter, clearing the beach of harmful waste.

This event was in collaboration with the Marine Conservation Society, the UK’s leading ocean protection charity, who are dedicated to preserving the health of our oceans. We’re proud to have contributed to their mission by playing our part in keeping our local coastline clean and safe.

The day was not just about cleaning up—it was about coming together as a community to protect our environment.

A big thank you to everyone who participated, and we look forward to many more sunny days of community action and environmental care!
