Helping Hullbridge Spread Joy, One Shop At A Time

Wednesday Dec 10, 2025

Every year, Hullbridge Parish Council organise Christmas food parcels for every local resident over 80 years old. Our Hullbridge store has been delighted to be able to assist them for a number of years now.

This year’s initiative saw Christmas parcels delivered to more than 270 elderly residents, bringing a moment of joy and connection to some of the village’s most isolated and vulnerable community members. Thousands of pounds have been invested into the project, with funding divided between the Co-op’s contribution and support from the local council, ensuring every parcel was filled with thoughtful seasonal essentials and treats. Volunteers from both the Parish Council and the Co-op team worked together to prepare and distribute the bags in the lead-up to Christmas, reflecting the strong community spirit Hullbridge is known for.

Each bag contains 8 items, including christmas pudding, mince pies and tinned goods.

Nicola Harding, Clerk to Hullbridge Parish Council, commented: “We are thrilled with the support we have received from our local Co-op in fulfilling the Christmas Parcel orders for our over 80’s. On behalf of the Parish Council, I would like to thank everyone from the Co-op who was involved in making this happen.”

The Co-op’s Ferry Road store remains committed to supporting community-focused initiatives and looks forward to continuing its partnership with the Parish Council in future years as both organisations work to enhance the lives of those across Hullbridge.
