Litter picking our way through history…

Friday Aug 19, 2022

With support from The George Yard Shopping Centre and The Braintree District Museum, our ‘Litter Picking Through History’ event took place yesterday (Thursday 18th August).

This was a brand-new collaboration with Braintree Museum to clean up the local area, whilst taking volunteers on a historical walk to learn about the local area.

The group was taken on the Courtaulds walk around Braintree, led by Museum Volunteer, Stewart whilst picking up litter. The route started at the museum, with highlights including the Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Braintree Town Hall, The Drinking Fountain in Market Square, Braintree and Bocking Public Gardens, and the Pound End Mill.

Our Membership Assistant, Julie commented “We all learned a lot about the History of Braintree and managed to collect 5 bags of rubbish in 2 hours. It was a very enjoyable event and thank you the volunteers that gave up their time to help us.”
