Phase 1 of new look Blackmore store completed

Friday Jan 24, 2025

Our food-store in the picturesque village of Blackmore is the latest to receive the brand new look, with an extensive refurbishment that included a completely redesigned exterior. Helping to launch the store, Trustee, Riding Coach and former owner of local charity Barrow Farm Riding For The Disabled, Anne Mitchell joined our President Tony Price and store manager Ricki in cutting the ribbon. The charity has been a regular shopper at Blackmore Co-op since the store opened.

A second phase of refurbishment work will shortly be completed on the store, with a much-wanted automatic new door going in soon.

Barrow Farm Riding For The Disabled opened in 1976 with the aim to make horse riding accessible to everyone. Over 100 children and adult riders use the centre each week, costing the centre tens of thousands in operating costs. Riders receive not only physiotherapy and exercise whilst riding, but also the opportunity to meet friends, build self-esteem and have fun. Chelmsford Star Co-op has been supporting the charity for decades, with fundraising, grants and they were one of our first Community Card groups in the late 1990’s.
