It’s that time of year again where we ask members to step forward as a Member Representative.
Chelmsford Star Co-op is a member-led organisation, and for that to work we need members to lead us! All members have the opportunity to raise their point of view and provide feedback, via online surveys or speaking to our colleagues on the shop floor, however it isn’t possible for the CEO or Executive Team to meet and discuss ideas with every member directly. The best we have is our annual members meeting and you can watch 2024’s here.
This is where our Member Representatives step in.
Member Representatives are regular members who have been selected by other members to represent their best interests for them. They tend to be community-minded, willing to invest a little time and energy into their ideals, although they don’t necessarily have to have experience in business or finance (the school of life can be experience enough).
These elected members sit on one of three levels depending on their confidence and experience, availability and time constraints. Each position rewards the successful member with our colleague discount, plus there are financial benefits to those committing the most time.

Deadline for applications is 31st March, so don’t hang about.
Any member is able to nominate themselves as a Member Representative to any of the positions available in the Elections. Members are also able to nominate themselves for more than one position, taking the highest ranking position that they are elected for.
At the 2025 Elections there are 5 vacancies to the Board, 1 for the Membership Committee and 5 for the Members’ Council. You can find out more about each role via the find out more here.
